WORKSHOPS, VISITORS AND NEW CONNECTIONS

The characteristic sound of Soft Drive has been rain on the roof  of the cottage, and the occasional whoop from the alarm when it is too wet outside even for the smoke from the fireplace to want to leave.  Lately too the place has been full of activity and talk.

We had two further sessions this week  with Alex and Ellie, during which they showed and discussed thier work,  let  people into the processes, and sent them home with something colourfull and carefully crafted.

In return we get to meet new faces, build on relationships with visitors, have good conversations, and hear people's ideas.

So, while our visitors made street-view and Landscape tableaux and  a variety of books and journals we learned a bit about useful archiving materials from Ged, and were given a great quality copy of a page on Sir John Barrow from the Illustrated London News from his son's collection.

Storyteller Cathy Sullivan  told us about her work with the  Kamishibai, a Japanese story-telling tool..see image on right..we begin this years' Storyfair project soon, and it would be good to show this beautiful object to the young people we work with.

Two more good days; our ideas are getting around and fresh ones are coming in.
